Handmade jewelry in Quebec
In my workshop in Joliette, Lanaudière, I transform each piece from second-hand glasses that I dismantle piece by piece. The plasticized eyeglass lenses are heat-transformed to enhance the material's color. The glasses are sorted, cleaned, shaped, sanded, and assembled. Each piece is lightweight and unique, and may vary slightly from the photo. My jewelry captures the light and changes color depending on its orientation. The frames, temples, nose pads, and temple tips are metallic or plastic-coated. The chains, stems, hooks, sleepers, charms, and findings are made of stainless steel and in new condition, as are the gemstones.
Rescued from optician's trash, millions of tons of plastic and metal are thrown into opticians' waste, and unfortunately, no one cares. I give this material a second life through upcycling, that is, by transforming it into creations with greater added value.
For an eco-responsible approach, upcycling involves giving a second life to a used product. It's a top-down recycling that enhances the original material and whose benefits in terms of durability, ethics, and innovation are recognized. The product is enhanced and transformed to create a creative, ecological, and unique gem. After giving them new value, a new use, and a purpose different from their original purpose.
By choosing one of my products, you are taking concrete action for the planet.
